With a focus on LGBT positive groups, businesses, and service providers, the one-day exhibition provides an excellent chance for those in the community to see what’s available, make new connections, and consider new products, opportunities and services. In previous years, The Expo drew between 800 and 1000 local consumers over the 1 day run-time, and consisted of roughly 50 exhibitors, including community associations.

There will be seminar content delivered over the course of the day as well as local entertainment and refreshments. LGBT XPO runs on a not-for-profit basis, with low booth costs aimed to encourage small business participation. In addition, community group spots are offered free of charge.

Community groups will be offered their own room that will be shared with the seminar speakers throughout the day in order to encourage the frank exchange of questions and ideas. Snacks and beverages will be made available on site.

LGX originally ran in the Ottawa area at the Jack Purcell Community Centre on Elgin Street for a number of years in support of the LGBT community, with Capital Xtra as the main organizer and title sponsor. The expo has been quiet in recent years since the closure of Capital Xtra’s Ottawa offices, but we feel strongly about the benefits and value of such an event and so we’ve set out to bring it back.
